Beis Menachem Mendel · Tzfat

About the Yeshiva

A new Tomchei Temimim yeshiva gedola, opened in Tzfat on 1 Elul 5785 — building its otzar, its community, and its future from the very first day.

Tzfat, Israel

Neve Ornim — where the new yeshiva stands.

Origin

A New Yeshiva. Year One.

Beis Menachem Mendel — ישיבה גדולה תומכי תמימים ליובאוויטש — opened its doors on 1 Elul 5785 in Tzfat.

It operates under ישיבת צעירי השלוחים, and grew directly from the well-regarded ketana, Ohel Menachem Mendel, which had been building strong bochurim in Tzfat for five years.

The new yeshiva gedola was established to give those bochurim and others like them a place to continue and deepen their learning at the highest level, in the Torah city of Tzfat.

It carries the name and spirit of Tomchei Temimim — the yeshiva network founded by the Rebbe Rashab in 5657, and carried forward through every generation under the Rebbeim's direct guidance.

Setting

The Torah City of Tzfat

The yeshiva is located in Neve Ornim, Tzfat — a city that has been a center of Torah and Jewish scholarship for centuries. The city of the Arizal, of the Beis Yosef, of the Ramak.

Tzfat has also been home to a Chabad presence for many years, with multiple mosdos, shluchim, and a kehilla that has grown steadily under the leadership of Rav Chaim Kaplan, the Rebbe's shliach.

There is something fitting about a new Tomchei Temimim opening here. The mountains of the Galil, the ancient stones of the city, and now a new beis medrash where bochurim sit with Gemara and Maamarim.

A new yeshiva is continuing the chain.

Nigleh

In-Depth Talmud Learning

The seder in nigleh follows the Tomchei Temimim approach: limmud hanigleh b'iyun — deep, careful study with a focus on understanding, not coverage. The bochurim learn Gemara with Rishonim, working through sugyos with patience and rigor.

The ram gives daily shiurim on the masechta. The emphasis is on a bachur who understands what he is learning — not just covering material, but building a genuine foundation in Torah.

Chassidus

Daily Seder in Chassidus

Every day includes a dedicated seder in Chassidus — learning Tanya, Maamarim of the Rebbeim, and Likkutei Torah. This is the distinctive mark of a Chabad yeshiva.

The mashpia leads farbrengens and shiurim in Chassidus. The goal is a bachur who feels connected — to the Rebbe, to Chassidus, to the avodah. Not just knowledgeable, but truly a Tomim.

Leadership

A Full Hanhala — Present Daily

The mashpia, rosh yeshiva, ram, and mashgiach are not administrators — they are talmidei chachamim actively in the beis medrash with the bochurim every day.

The Gap

When a yeshiva opens in its first year, the otzar does not come with it.

Every sefer on the shelf had to be put there by someone. The Rishonim, the poskim, the Maamarim — none of it materializes on its own. This campaign exists because the building is open, the bochurim are there, and the shelves need to be filled.

What you donate now is not supplementing an existing library. It is the library.

Why Now Matters

Year One Is Different

Founding sets are permanent

The seforim you sponsor in year one become the founding library. They carry a dedication and a story that later acquisitions cannot.

The bochurim feel it immediately

In a new yeshiva, every sefer that arrives is noticed. There is no pre-existing stock. What you send is what they have.

Learning starts from day one

The yeshiva opened 1 Elul 5785. Bochurim are sitting in the beis medrash now. They need the seforim now.
